Service Listing
Callaway Action Network (CAN)
Julie Hauck-Lander, Director

CAN offers a variety of services for income eligible households, such as a food pantry, limited emergency financial assistance, a mobile food pantry, a thrift store, school supplies, and holiday assistance.

Assistance hours are 1pm-4pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. The pantry is closed on Thursday for CAN VAN distribution. We provide emergency services to families which include a food pantry, the CAN VAN (mobile food pantry), utility assistance, rental assistance, limited prescription assistance, free clothing and household items, as well as information and referrals. Qualifying patrons can obtain food once per month and financial assistance one time in a six month period.

We encourage the giving of food items that are canned, packaged, fresh or frozen. Cash donations are used to purchase food during shortage periods. Our food pantry is open year around, four days per week. Any donations of food, hygiene items, or plastic bags, as well as volunteers, are always appreciated.

There is a back to school program in August (families sign up the entire month of July) which helps provide children with school supplies for the new year. One of our biggest activities is the Adopt A Family program which provides food and gifts for those who otherwise wouldn't have any during the holidays. Families sign-up in the entire month of October and items are distributed  in December. To find out how to sign up or donate items for these programs, please contact us.

The Clothes Cupboard is a thrift store located at 501 Nichols St. which is open to the public and also provides items free to income eligible patrons who apply at SERVE. Any donations of clothing or household items are always welcome. The hours of operation are Monday -Friday 8:30 to 4:30 and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays. There is a donation bin outside for after hour donations.

All donations to SERVE, Inc. are tax deductible!
